This sequence of courses is offered fall (JPN502), winter (JPN503) and spring (JPN504). The main focus of these courses is to increase skills in reading, analysis and discussion, and prepare students for living and working in Japanese culture. Students will be familiar with cultural concepts such as societal duties and obligation. Resources include a variety of original readings, such as Japanese classical literature by Soseki Natsume and contemporary novels by Haruki Murakami, as well as newspaper articles, movies, Internet materials, video clips, and comic books. These courses prepare students for the Advanced Placement examination in Japanese and Culture.
