Students expand on their linguistic skills and knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures and groups through the exploration of the arts, and topics related to the development of individual and group identities. Materials may include novels, essays, short stories, radio programs, films, newspapers and magazine articles. Attention is given to the development of various forms of written and verbal communication: interpretive, persuasive, interpersonal and presentational. This course, along with Spanish 502 and 503, provides a special review for the SAT II subject test and AP Spanish Language and Culture exam in May, but need not be taken in conjunction or in sequence.
